The club caters for all levels and is divided into 2 main groups...

Müller running club was originally formed back in 2003 when a group of Müller employees decided to enter the Great North run that year. For quite a few of the team it was their first running experience since leaving school so quite a shock to the system. In fact the shock was that bad for some of them that they have never run since!

10k-group

The Great North Run team consisted of Tim Beckett, Paul Thomas, Steve Oliver, Marten Schlender, Andy Ruscoe-Icke, Derek Amson, Martyn Steadman, Steve Ruscoe, Carole Mottram, Tim Earle and Kath Kilner.

The Müller team raised more than £5,000 for charity, including Hope House, Cancer Research , The Miscarriage Association and the Rural Stress Support Network.

The beginners group caters for runners who are just starting out and have little running experience.

A year later the club decided to revive the Market Drayton race, formerly known as the Carnival Run. In its first year it attracted 125 entries and just 5 years later the event has grown to one of the largest 10K races in Shropshire attracting over 800 runners for the 2008 event.

The advanced group caters for runners with more experience and are taken out for various distances.

Secretary Tim Beckett explains, ‘The town has been lacking a running club since 1987 when the Market Drayton Running Club ran its last race. There are a lot of runners around the town so the Müller Running Club was formed to give local residents and workers an opportunity to train and race with fellow runners, offering support and advice whatever their ability.’  The club is open to everyone, not just Müller employees.
